Through our statewide network of campuses, group homes, and specialized programs, we offer the following services for children, youth and familes:
Campus Residential Programs: These ministries provide residential care for troubled children, youth, and families. Christ-centered programs on three campuses, located in Baxley, Meansville, and Palmetto, work together to meet the basic physical needs of our children, as well as assist them in personal development and spiritual growth. These services include maximum watchful oversight programs designed to meet the needs of children and youth with more severe emotional/behavioral issues and often are specialized to meet a particular need.
Group Home Residential Care: Located in local communities, these group homes have the capacity to serve five to ten children. These homes are generally established and supported by community groups who have recognized the need for residential care for abused and neglected children in the local area. These homes allow us to serve children in their own community which helps them adjust to their placement with less disruption during a difficult time.
Maternity Care: One of the unique ministries here at Georgia Baptist Children's Home is our Teen Maternity Program. This residential program gives these young mothers-to-be a safe place to live while receiving medical care, spiritual counseling, parenting classes, continuing education and most importantly - HOPE.
Camp Hawkins: Camp Hawkins is a summer residential camp for youth ages 8-21 coping with varying developmental disabilities such as Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Attention Deficit Disorders, Learning disorders, Autism, brain injuries and/or other developmental delays. Camp Hawkins sessions last for five days and serve up to 20 campers each week. Staff to camper ratio is one-to-one to insure that the needs of each camper are met. Registered nurses are on site at all times and staff members are trained and CPR certified. In addition to camper attention and support, special dietary needs are accommodated as well. Camp Hawkins is held in Mt. Airy, GA and Baxley, GA.
Dual Diagnosis Program: This program serves children and youth who have a diagnosis of mental/behavioral issue as well as a developmental disability. There are currently only two residential programs like this in the state. This program allows us to serve more children by offering care and services to those who are often limited on where they can be placed.
Victory Program: This program provides residential recovery for girls (12-17) who are victims of human trafficking. The program uses innovative counseling and education techniques to offer hope, healing and restored dignity in a holistic way.
Good Shepherd Therapeutic Center: Located in Warm Springs, Georgia, this unique farm based residential program for boys provides both short and long-term care and offers an outpatient therapeutic and recreational riding program to children, youth and adults coping with a variety of disabilities.
Community Counseling Centers: We offer a full range of coordinated behavioral health and community support services including individual counseling, family counseling, psychiatric services, nursing services and pharmacological services. These services are located on our three residential campuses and serving our children in our care and their families as well as children, youth and families in the communities at large.
Foster Care: Home should be a safe place for a child. Unfortunately, many homes are filled with abuse and fear. Today, there are hundreds of children in Georgia who need a safe and loving place to call home. We are licensed as a Foster Care Child Placement Agency in the state of Georgia and currently operate foster homes in South Metro Atlanta communities.
Adventure Respite Services: Our adventure-based weekend respite program is offered through our Good Shepherd Center. This program is opened to children in residential care, foster care or those who receive in-home services and meet the requirements for respite care. This program provides clients with various fun outdoor activities, which allows the client a break from their daily routine and helps stabilize their current placement.
Family Care Program: This program is designed to assist mothers and their children who have been displaced from their homes due to domestic violence. Our program assists these families with counseling, shelter, food, clothing and assistance in locating employment and education for their children.
